Hamour Orange-spotted grouper · هامور
The Gulf's crown jewel. Thick, sweet white flakes — steamed, grilled, or in machboos.
One board, rewritten every morning by whatever the Gulf gave us. Per-kilo prices set with the dawn — and when it's gone, it's gone.
The daily board
There is no shop front, no cold storage and no supplier. There is a villa in Jumeirah 2, an ice box, a scale you can watch, and fish that were swimming at dawn.
Every morning we post the board — species, sizes, per-kilo prices. Some days it's heavy with kingfish; some days the hamour owns the ice. That's what buying from a fisherman means: the sea decides the menu.
Know your Gulf fish
The Gulf gives around thirty species across the year. These are the ones Dubai kitchens ask for by name.
The Gulf's crown jewel. Thick, sweet white flakes — steamed, grilled, or in machboos.
Fast, oily, full-flavoured. Cut into cutlets for the grill — free of charge.
Firm, clean-tasting flesh that needs nothing more than lemon and fire.
Small, rosy, delicate — pan-fried whole the day they land.
Sweet, light flesh loved across the Gulf — excellent steamed or in rice dishes.
Meaty and firm — a fisherman's fish that stands up to spice and slow cooking.
Feeding a crowd? We'll build a tray to your budget — mixed species, cut how you like, iced for the road.
Barracuda, threadfin, squid, crab and other visitors appear when the Gulf sends them. Ask what's on today — the surprise is usually the best part.
Prices are per kilo and set each morning by the catch and the market — every fish weighed in front of you before you pay. Nothing frozen, nothing carried over to tomorrow.
